‘Apple Watch 2’ Release Date, Specs, Price: Next Gen Smartwatch Launch Confirmed On September 7?

Finally, the time for Apple's big event has come. Apple has reportedly sent out press invites for its upcoming media event which is set to happen on September 7 at Bill Graham Civic Center in San Francisco at 10 am PT. It is expected that the Cupertino will release the highly anticipated Apple Watch 2 along with its next iPhone iteration, possibly dubbed iPhone 7 at the event.

Talking about the specs of the much rumored Apple Watch 2, the next gen smartwatch is expected to come loaded with a host of impressive new features. According to TechRadar, a picture found on Weibo suggests that the upcoming smartwatch will come with a bigger 334 mAh lithium-ion battery which will have 35.7 percent more capacity than the original Apple Watch. The battery in the leaked image would fit a 42mm Apple Watch model.

Among other specs, it is rumored that the Apple Watch 2 will feature a thinner design, an ARM Cortex A32 processor, new microLED screen tech, GPS-based location tracking, a barometer, One Glass Solution (OGS) touch panel technology, new gesture control, improved waterproofing technology and FaceTime camera for selfie and video calls. It is to be noted that currently Apple Watch users need to have their iPhones with them to track a run or get directions on their smartwatch. GPS feature on upcoming smartwatch mean that individuals will no longer have to be dependent on their iPhones.

In addition, the upcoming Apple Watch 2 is also rumored get a Night Shift mode feature which will lessen the emission of blue light from the wearable gadget by making the screen color warmer and allowing for a better sleep, reported GameNGuide. As far as price of the upcoming Apple Watch 2 is concerned, the smartwatch is expected to come with a price tag of around $400.
