Is It Possible To Run Both Android, iOS On One Device? New iPhone Case Is The Answer [VIDEO]

Tendingi CTO Nick Lee has developed a unique 3D-printed mobile back cover case which will let the two most popular mobile operating systems, namely Google's Android and Apple's iOS, run simultaneously on the iPhone.

To bring Android to iPhone, Lee first cloned the Android Open Source Project to make a customized version of Android Marshmallow to run on a Lemaker HiKey board powered by ARM Cortex-A53 processor. Next, he combined the board with a 3D-printed iPhone case which he found on Thingiverse. In addition to the board, the case contains a boost converter, a battery and a resistor. The case connects to the smartphone via the Lightning port.

Lee has outlined the case's creation process in a detailed post on Medium. He spent almost 45 hours building the case.

 "The main inspiration was the intense feelings Android and iOS users have about each other," Lee told The Next Web. "I said to myself- 'What if you could have it all on one device?'"

Once a user places the iPhone on top of the back case, the Android interface takes over. The iPhone user can then browse through an Android interface seamlessly. To get the iOS interface back, all the iPhone user needs to do is to hit the home button.

In the video uploaded on YouTube, Lee can be seen using different functions, including connecting to Wi-Fi, accessing the Google Play Store and using the calculator app.

While, the first back case prototype was too bulky, Lee slimmed down the design into what resembles a battery case for a smartphone. The developer also included openings for HDMI and USB ports, as well as an SD card slot.

This is not the first time that Lee has gone over the line. Back in April, the genius managed to get an Apple Watch to run a miniature version of Windows 95.

It is to be noted that Lee has no immediate plans of selling the back case commercially. However, he would not mind investing more time into building a sleeker case if there was interest.
