Smartphone makers always advise smartphone users to go for original chargers and avoid using fake chargers. For those iPhone users who think there's no problem in using fake Apple chargers, here's a report which will make you think twice before using one. A new research study has found that almost 99 percent of fake Apple chargers have failed a basic safety test.

Fake Apple Chargers Online-

According to the safety tests conducted by U.S. based global safety specialist UL and commissioned by UK's consumer protection group, the Chartered Trading Standards Institute, use of fake Apple chargers might not be safe. A total of 400 counterfeit iPhone adapters obtained online from suppliers from eight different countries including Australia, Canada, China, Colombia, Thailand and the US were put to insulation test.

It was found that only three chargers from the lot passed an electrical strength test and had sufficient insulation to offer protection against electrical shocks. All the other 397 fake Apple chargers were found to be dangerous for use.

"Only buy second-hand electrical goods that have been tested and only buy online electrical goods from trusted suppliers," said Leon Livermore, CTSI Chief Executive. "It might cost a few pounds more but counterfeit and second-hand goods are an unknown entity that could cost you your home or even your life, or the life of a loved-one."

How To Spot Fake Apple Chargers-

To be on a safer side, iPhone users should always check that there are no signs of counterfeiting such as misspellings, mistakes in brand names or logos. They also check that the plugs carry appropriate safety warnings, instructions and regulation markings. In case, if the price of the charger seems too good to be true then it must be understood that it is a fake Apple charger.

The CTSI recommends iPhone customers to avoid overcharging their devices, avoid covering the handsets when charging and never ever use a charger with a damaged cable. Most importantly, always buy chargers from trusted suppliers only.
