The latest Microsoft "Clip Layer" app allows you to copy text from any Android phone screen by long pressing the home button. iPhone users have faced difficulties in past over this issue. In early days of production, Android phones had this necessary function but iOS users did not.

Copy and paste functions are a must have requirement in today's times. However, several apps in Android still do not allow text to be accessible for such work. Now imagine this situation: You found an excellent anecdote or offer on your phone while browsing an app. You want to copy the text (not just screen-shot it). But, the app does not let you copy the text. Does that not drive you crazy?

Microsoft's newest Clip layer app is a solution to all these problems. It has introduced a copy functon to the home button- a feature that is applicable to all apps.

How Microsoft Clip Layer App Works?

Long-press the home button to launch the Microsoft Clip Layer app anywhere on your phone. After you open the app on your smartphone, it reads the text available on the screen. You simply need to select the text you want to capture and then press the text button positioned in the upper right corner of the screen. This copies the text on your phone's clipboard. Thereafter, you can do whatever you wish to do with the text at your disposal.

In a way, the Microsoft Clip Layer is not vastly different from another app "Universal Copy". However, function-wise, the former seems to be working much better than the latter.

However, there is a big disadvantage to this useful app. The Microsoft Clip Layer can take over your smartphone's default function. Normally, long pressing the home button launched the Google app to help the users. However, once you install Clip Layer, the home button will launch Clip Layer. In some phones, you have to trade-off between Clip Layer and screen search. However, in the latest Google Pixel, that means losing the Assistant. We wonder how many users are willing to accept this change.

The Microsoft Clip Layer app is already available on Google Play store for download. Let us know your experience after downloading the latest Microsoft app!
