Microsoft Surface Phone Release Date, Rumors & Updates: April 2017 Launch Confirmed?

The upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro event will not feature a new Surface phone. So, fans might have to wait for next year. Although new speculations have come up, tech enthusiasts are expecting the Microsoft Surface Phone with Windows 10 to get an April 2017 release date.

But, the exact release date for the Microsoft Surface phone is still not known. It has been a few months now, and the rumors spreading about this new phone featuring Windows 10 will be coming out any soon this fall 2016 event. But, as per tech journalist, Paul Thurrott, Microsoft is still in terms of making a decision whether to stick with the project or not. This has made a great deal of uproar in the tech world as a lot of fans were eagerly expecting a new Surface phone this year.

Within a few hours' time, the Microsoft event (scheduled for October 26, 2016) will start and we will soon see what the company reveals for us this event. Thurrott also added that Microsoft is still thinking whether to take a step back in the mobile industry where their past few years have not been productive.

This statement contradicts to that of Windows and Devices Group Executive VP, Terry Myerson who had stated that the company is seriously looking forward to upgrade its poorly-performing phone section. But, he also added that it might not be an important concern, at least for 2016.

"We're going to do some cool things with phones, but this year phones are an important part of our family but not the tip of the spear," he said to The Verge.

Microsoft might unveil new Surface Pro and Surface Book laptops this event:

Myerson's statement might give us a hint on a next-generation Microsoft Surface Phone that could come up in April 2017. Even Thurrott talked about revamped models for the Surface Pro and Surface Book in the next spring season. The upcoming Microsoft event 2016 might debut the Surface Pro 5, Surface Book 2, and - who knows, a Surface Phone as well.

We have really high hopes for a new Microsoft Surface Phone with Windows 10 as this will let the company enter the mobile-making industry once again with a lot of expectations. The past performance might not have been that great, but it could get better for the company with a new phone.
