Two types of trackers were tested in the recent update of Pokémon GO. The update introduced a new way to find Pokémon in the game. But, since it's a trial update, players may be able to see both or only one tracker, and if you're not lucky, none at all.

According to droid-life.com , multiple testers of the game were revealed on Twitter and Reddit, proving that Niantic, the game developer, has been listening to a lot of players' plea. The company intends to bring back a good tracking system into the game, which will help track down Pokémon around players easily.

Cnet.com reported that there were 2 tracking system in the update. First is the Sightings version of the tracker. This tracker is said to inform you what Pokémon are currently in your area, which is basically the same kind of tracker Niantic had taken down. It gives a list of nearby Pokémon, however this time; they have grass in the icon.

Like the old tracker, the Sightings tracker will not let you know how close you are to the Pokémon or what direction you need to go to. The other tracker, known as the 'Nearby' tracker is the improved version of the old tracker. And the best thing about it is, it actually works. The tracker lists Pokémon that are in your general area and the PokéStops you need to visit to be able to hunt the Pokémon down.

All you have to do is to tap on the Pokémon you want to track, click on the 'View' button and you'll be taken back to the map screen. Then, the screen will zoom in and flash the location of the PokéStop related to the avatar the player uses, forbes.com reported. In cases when the Pokémon leaves the specific location before the player arrives, the app will notify you with a warning, "The Pokemon fled! Check the nearby list for other Pokemon."

Some people are saying that they have one tracker, but can't access the other. There are other people saying that they have both trackers. Niantic explained on their site, "We're currently testing a variation of the "Nearby Pokémon" feature with a subset of users. During this period you may see some variation in the nearby Pokémon UI."
