Google Nexus 2016 Release Date, Specs, Price: HTC Built Marlin, Sailfish Features Leaked

Rumors about Google's much awaited Nexus 2016 has been piling up for quite some time now. Now, new reports suggest the search giant is planning to release two new Nexus 2016 smartphones this year, "Marlin" and "Sailfish," both rumored to be manufactured by HTC.

Back in April, popular leakster, Evan Blass, had revealed that HTC is developing two Android N devices for Google, internally named as S1 and M1 and codenamed "Marlin" and "Sailfish."

Android Police recently reported the rumored specs and features of HTC Sailfish phone. The upcoming handset is expected to feature a 5-inch FullHD display, a Quad-core 2.0GHz 64-bit chip, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, a 12-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera and a 2,770mAh battery.

Other rumored specs include a rear panel fingerprint scanner, a USB Type-C port, bottom facing speakers, a top mounted headphone jack and Bluetooth 4.2. The smartphone is expected to run Google's upcoming operating system, Android Nougat. The device is expected to be a mid-range device.

As far as specs of HTC Marlin is concerned, the handset is rumored to feature a quad-core Qualcomm chip, a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, 4GB of RAM and a massive 3,450mAh battery. The handset's rear camera is rumored to be of 12-megapixel and its front-facing camera will be of 8-megapixel. The device may also feature a USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 4.2 and bottom-facing speakers. It is reported that HTC Marlin will only be available in two storage models - 32 and 128GB, with no 64GB in between them.

While Google has not announced anything about the release date of the upcoming Nexus 2016 smartphones, it is rumored that the Google Nexus 2016 release date will be scheduled in August this year.
