Attractive women and models are turning into 'egg agents' and earning handsomely by donating their eggs to parents with fertility issues. Doctors on the other hand warn these women not to donate more than six times as it can lead to health adversities such as ovarian cancer.

Healthy, good looking women who are willing to be egg donors are being searched by a group called The Egg Donor Program located in Studio City, California, which was found by Shelley Smith about 20 years back.

"We're people who search high and low for women who have qualities that other people would desire," said Smith, TODAY reports.

The women who donated their eggs feel great about the experience as they are able to help couples in attaining parenthood, which means a lot for the family.

An egg donating candidate named Robyn Marie Young, 28 and green-eyed, is in high demand as she has got good looks along with an athletic body. The 28-year-old is an actress and a dancer, she said egg donation was a flattering experience for her. She has donated her eggs thrice so far and also earned about $8,000 to $10,000 for every donation she made.

"I find it flattering that people would want to actually use my genes and have a kid that looks like me," Young told TODAY.

Though egg donating has a positive impact on parents with fertility problems, it also has a bad side as it can be risky for the egg donating women who do it more than six times, according to media reports.

"The American Society for Reproductive Medicine cautions women not to undergo the process more than six times, there are no laws to regulate this, and therefore no ways to really prevent women from possibly endangering their health by undergoing the process more times than is recommended," ABC reported.

Julia Derek, an egg donor, confessed that she donated her eggs about a dozen times and got diagnosed with severe hormonal imbalance, she also said that the large amount of money the donors get in return is as a bait, which makes them donate more number of times than they should. She blamed an egg donating agency for involving her in egg donations.

"You're playing Russian roulette with your future fertility and your future health," says Dr. Robert Stillman, director of the Shady Grove Fertility Center in Rockville, MD, according to ABC.

"The more you ovulate, the greater the risk of ovarian cancer. So if these stimulated cycles are more risk, then there may be more potential as [these donors] age in their seventies and eighties to get cancer," Dr. Stillman added.
