Snail Mucus May Help Prevent Aging

Want to look good for your next date? Snap on a snail or two with a facial, and you'll be glowing across the room in no time--or, at least that's what the Clinical Salon in Tokyo believes. 

Customers have the option to come right in and get their faces cleaned with fresh bug juice as snails trail across their cheeks. In fact, the snails are allegedly allowed to move freely from a customer's forehead all the way down to their chin for up to an hour. Beauty experts at the facility are claiming that these creatures have amazing properties in mucus that can promote a facial glow and even add smoothness to your snout.

The mucus, which is the slime that trails behind as the snails slowly slither, is believed to also be a good source of power proteins, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid. This combined mixture is supposed to help the skin retain moisture, ease inflammation and even remove dead skin. (And to think we could have just picked up some snails instead of spending all that money on botox.)

Of course, the treatment's not for everyone. For some of us, you might be...well, you might not want snails anywhere near your face. For others, it might be a little too expensive. This "Celebrity Escargot Course" costs around $243 per treatment. It does include a facial massage, mask and an electrical pulse machine, according to various news organizations, but gosh. Can't we just go in the woods and pick up some snails there?

Rest assured, I'm sure these are pure-bred beauty salon snails, and snails in the wild would be posonious. Or, who knows. They may attack. We're not sure.
