The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday that they are recalling 600,000 baby monitors due to the death of two infants.

The organization reports that the two children were strangled from a cord attached to the sensor pad. At this time, Angelcare Monitors Inc. is recalling the product due strangulation risk if a child were to pull the cord into the crib.

Two other reports regarding the product and entanglement have been noted. However, the organization sates that these cases did not result in fatal injuries.

The Angelcare Movement and Sound Monitors with Sensor Pads were first sold in 1999 and all the way up to present time for between $100 and $300 at several retail stores, including the following: Babies R Us, Toys R Us, Meijer, Sears, Walmart, Amazon.com, Burlington Coat Factory, Overstock.com, Target.com and close to 70 small baby specialty stores.

Consumers that currently have the kit should stop using the product and contact the company in order to repair it.

The recall involves various versions of Angelcare sensor monitors, including the following: AC1100, AC201, AC300, AC402, AC601 and 49255, which did not include any rigid cord covers. The model numbers are located on the back of the nursery monitor unit.

The company is based in Canada and helps to provide consumers with a repair kit that can include rigid protective cord covers via the sensor pad cords, as well as a new electric cord warning that's labeled and revised for instructions.
