Men with Low Voices Sexier, More Likely to Cheat

Some of us like foreign accents. Some of us go goo-goo-ga-ga for red hair. And well, some of us just like a man that washes his own dishes.

But regardless of your fancy, a recent study shows that men with masculine, low-pitched voices may be better at attracting ladies.

Unfortunately, women may want to steer clear of these sexy studs when it comes to long-term commitment. You see, despite their alluring qualities, these men are also more likely to stray during a marriage or serious relationship.

Yet researchers believe that these recent findings provide in-depth insight into the evolution of the human voice and mate selection.

"The sound of someone's voice can affect how we think of them," Dr. Jillian O'Connor, from McMaster University in Canada said, according to The Daily Mail. "Until now, it's been unclear why women would like the voices of men who might cheat. But we found that the more women thought these men would cheat, the more they were attracted to them for a brief relationship when they are less worried about fidelity," O'Connor said.

The study involved 87 women who listened to men's voices that were manipulated to sound higher or lower. Afterwards, the women were asked to choose men they thought were more likely to cheat and who they found more attractive for long or short term relationships.

"From an evolutionary perspective, these perceptions of future sexual infidelity may be adaptive," Dr. David Feinberg of McMaster University said, according to the news organization."The consequences of infidelity are very high, whether it is emotional or financial, and this research suggests that humans have evolved as a protection mechanism to avoid long-term partners who may cheat," he added.
