Physical Contact Can Get Uber Riders Permanently Banned: Uber’s Community Guidelines And Things To Avoid

Uber has been the premier ride-sharing app for the better part of this decade and the more recently released Uber Pool feature has served as a way for some to meet other people - a Tinder on wheels, if you will. To keep things clean and safe for the most part, Uber has released newly updated Community Guidelines.

First off, physical contact with the driver or fellow passengers is expressly forbidden and this goes double for more extreme cases such as flirting or making any untoward sexual advances. It is also against the rules to have continued contact with the driver or any of the other passengers after your ride has ended as this is essentially stalking.

Secondly, any foul language, appropriate inqueries, and unwelcome rude gestures should not be done during the Uber ride - this is to avoid any unwanted violence or discrimination from any disrespectful passengers. Needless to say, any use of the Uber vehicle for illegal purposes such as drug use or transport, exceeding speeding limits, or using the vehicle as a getaway car.

Third, intential damaging of property within the Uber vehicle is also grounds for permanent banning of the rider. This includes any acts of vandalism, recklessness, intentional spilling of food and beverage items, and excessive vomiting done to the vehicle interior; any damage done to the Uber smart phone used by the driver is also grounds for banning.

These and many more are grounds for the ban in accordance to Uber's Community Guidelines and any serious breach of rules will result in the company simply not allowing you to keep using their app. Even with the cases where they decide not to have you banned but opt to just give you a lower star rating as a passenger, it is still a huge invonvenience for you; better to just avoid breaking the rules altogether.
