Bluetooth 5 is officially here, announced the Bluetooth Special Interest Group on Wednesday. The new version comes with a much longer connection range (4x) and faster speed (2x). It is also eight times more capable of broadcasting messages. Although it is already available, manufacturers are going to need some time for implementing it in their devices.

Bluetooth 5 is expected to work on new-age devices like fitness trackers and smart watches. Mark Powell. Executive director of Bluetooth SIG Group said that "Bluetooth has revolutionized the way people experience the Internet of things or Iot. Bluetooth five will carry forward the same thing by delivering seamless experiences and more reliable connections". Products and devices enabled with Bluetooth five are expected to be out in the market within the next six months.

The longer connection range of the new Bluetooth will make it easier for it to connect devices across large rooms. This certainly comes as good news to anyone who has experienced loss of Bluetooth connection as soon as they have walked out of a room. It is also good news for people who use Bluetooth-enabled headphones.

Bluetooth 5 is certainly going to be a better experience as far as wireless home devices are concerned. With these new and better features, Bluetooth five would be an ideal choice for connecting battery-powered home devices. Most smart home devices nowadays are wirelessly connected, but they do need to be charged once in a while.

The expansion of Bluetooth 5 is projected to be huge because about 13.9 B wireless devices are supposed to be in the hands of people by the year 2020. At least one of three such wireless devices will be Bluetooth enabled.  The Bluetooth SIG Group also claimed that this new version will experience much less interference from other wireless devices.
