Now users can tweet an emoji to Google and get replies instantly, the company revealed on Tuesday. Tweeting a "burger" emoji to Google will get the user a list of local burger joints. Similarly, tweeting to Google with an umbrella emoji will reveal whether it is going to rain.

With this new innovation, Google search has taken the phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words", to a new level. There are about 1400 emojis available on Twitter and Google will be able to read about 200 of them.  This new offering comes close on the heels of Twitter embracing emojis. The company has found out in a recent study that about 600,000 tweets containing emojis are sent every hour.

A user needs to a send a tweet at @Google with an emoji in the place of text. The twitter account of the company will send a reply instantly. The link will contain a link and also a GIF. The user can click on the link and access the search results. This new feature is an attempt by Google to encourage users to make more local searches. This is implied with the hashtag "Knownearby" the company is sending with their reply to every tweet.

This search function completely eliminates the usage of words and promises to be a handy tool to on-the-go users. The time taken for Google to reply is just a few seconds and it is probably faster than doing a Google search.

"The company is trying to show users some of the great things they can do using Google search and Twitter," a Google spokersperson said.  With 92 percent of internet users in the world using emojis everyday, it is expected that this new feature will be an instant hit. So, whether one wants to know about the weather or is simply hungry, they can simply log on to Twitter.
