Most people scoff at the hunt for alien existence as bogus and at the hands of "nut jobs" like alien enthusiasts and UFO hunters. But now, scientists are developing deep learning machines (DLMs) to better find proof of alien existence. There are already two groups of studies developing deep learning machines and are gearing up to go as early as next year.

A group of researchers from the University of Toronto Scarborough is developing a deep learning machine that will detect the stability of a planetary system, according to Science Daily. The more stable a planetary system is, the more likely it can support life. The use of deep learning machines is a thousand times faster than traditional techniques used in detecting stability and sustainability for life of planetary systems.

Daniel Tamayo, head author of the research, says that the DLMs were trained by analyzing a "data set of five thousand N-body integrations of three-planet systems over one hundred and seven orbits of the innermost body." The research focuses on three-planet systems as systems with two or more planets in the system show qualitatively similar behavior.

Their DLMs are also capable of determining the mass and elliptical orbits of the planets as this affects the stability and sustainability for life of the planetary system. With the help of DLMs, the team is hoping to analyze the thousands of data from NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) launching next year.

Another team from the University College London has been developing DLMs to analyze data from telescopes trained to detect planets from far away and planets with the potential to sustain life. The Robotic Exoplanet Recognition or RobERt is a deep learning machine that examines the light wavelengths emitted by these detected planets.

The light wavelengths are unique to different gasses like methane and carbon dioxide. By analyzing these wavelengths, scientists can determine if the planets are supporting life. The RobERt can also be used to study the different molecules, climate and chemistry of a planet.

RobERt is also set to analyze the data received from the James Webb Space Telescope. The James Webb Space Telescope is an infrared telescope that is designed for the study of how the first galaxies in the universe came to be. The telescope is set to launch in 2018.

With the advancement in deep learning machines, it is easier and faster for scientists to analyze and categorize data from satellites and telescopes. Both teams using DLMs to find proof of alien existence on planet systems are also hoping that their research will help determine how planetary systems like our own began.
