Microsoft Surface Book 2-in-1 was rolled out back in October 2015, whereas the Surface Book i7 was revealed during the Redmond's October event. Although the latter has been well appreciated, tech fanatics were disappointed that the device was not the highly anticipated Microsoft Surface Book 2 2017.

If the latest rumors are to be believed, Microsoft might roll out the much awaited Surface Book 2 as early as the second quarter of 2017. Here's what we know about the upcoming Microsoft Surface Book 2 2017 so far:

Although Microsoft has not yet revealed much about the Surface Book 2 2017 model, there are already rumors in the market regarding the replacement of the Macbook Pro 2016. The upcoming Surface Book 2 is all set to offset this year's MacBook model and will also take away all its issues.

Recent reports suggest that the upcoming device will feature an even better high definition screen. While the screen size will be 13.5", the same as the previous model, the screen will offer a 4K resolution (3840 x 2160). The HD support will be possible with the introduction of a new chipset, which will supposedly offer a better graphics architecture for the next year's Surface Book 2. This enhanced architecture will aid the Surface Book for an improved 4K Video playback and high-resolution 3D graphics.

If the rumors are to be believed, the upcoming Surface Book will feature the next generation Kaby Lake Chipsets. The current Macbook Pro model was rolled out with the Sky Lake processors but wasn't much appreciated by tech enthusiasts. It's expected that the 2017 device will come with the Kaby Lake chipsets, which will offer a better graphics architecture.

The 13.5" display with a 3,000 x 2,000 (267 PPI) resolution, when combined with Intel HD Graphics 520 GPU, will provide support for 4K video playback as well as 3D graphics.The upcoming surface Book 2 might also feature Intel's new 14-nanometer chips, which will provide USB 3.1 Type-C as well as Thunderbolt 3 support.

The 2017 Surface Book will also have some minor tweaks in its design getting an inspiration from its previous model. Although the current Surface Book has been well appreciated, its Dynamic Fulcrum Hinge attracted dirt easily and that wasn't well appreciated. According to recent reports, Microsoft might do a couple of changes to the Surface Book 2 2017 so as to curb this problem.

The new design might either feature a detachable screen or a new design that may allow the laptop to be totally closed down. This new design will not allow the dirt to enter, however, there's also a possibility that the first design may be taken up.

As Microsoft has quite recently rolled out the Surface Book i7, it is very likely that the Surface Book 2 will be rolled out in the second quarter of 2017. If the recent rumors are to be believed, the release date will happen sometime after the Redstone 2 update has been rolled out for Windows 10 OS.

No official announcement has yet been made regarding the upcoming Surface Book's price, however, it's expected to come with a higher price tag than the current model, which can be purchased for $1,500.
