A 37-pound tabby cat called Biscuit is searching for a shelter. The cat, which weighs as much as a 4-year-old human, is up for adoption at the St. Charles animal shelter.

According to a report in Counsel&Heal, the tabby cat weighs four times of a normal male housecat and due to his heavy weight, he is weighed on a dog scale.

Officials at the St.Charles animal shelter worry that his morbid and obese condition will prevent people from adopting him. Not much is known about his early life.

Hence, the officials have kept gray-and-white Biscuit on a strict diet and provide him with just half cups of food every day. According to Teresa Gilley, lead animal control officer, initially on being given low-calorie food, Biscuit was quiet keen but has now adjusted to the diet and is showing increased energy. Biscuit would find it difficult to walk a few steps without stopping and lying down. He would pant heavily. But now with the diet and coaxing, he walks freely, reports Saint Louis Post-Dispatch.

According to reports, the cat is about 4 years old and has been neutered. He is easygoing and loves to be pampered and petted.

Biscuit was bought to the shelter a year ago when his owner gave up on him and could no more take care of the bulky cat. He was again adopted by a lady who got him back after sometime because her new apartment did not allow pets.

The latest reports state that more than 110 people are willing to adopt Biscuit, whose adoption fee is $46.50, and they will be reviewed by the shelter workers before the adoption process takes place.
