Mars Show Signs To Cater Alien Life; Volcanic Origins Found

The curiosity of people with the aliens is never ending. A new study shows that a funnel-shaped crater can support life for the aliens.

Previously, the Hellas depression was thought that it was formed by a volcano beneath the glacier. But recently, a new study was conducted an in-depth analysis of the use of stereoscopic images and digital elevation models.

The recent investigation suggests that the depression really shows massive signs of volcanic origin -- the same origins that can also be found to "ice cauldrons" on Earth. For example, it has the ability to create an environment that is warm enough to cater liquid water and chemical nutrients, according to Mail Online.

A research associate at the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics and the study lead author Joseph Levy shared that, "We were drawn to this site because it looked like it could host some of the key ingredients for habitability -- water, heat, and nutrients."

The researchers also considered another depression with the same appearance was found in the Galaxias Fossae region.

The researchers constructed a digital elevation model, with a use of high-resolution images that allows them to resolve the 3D shape and structure of the depressions. The process helps them to have a clearer picture of the depression if it was created from an impact or it came from volcanic origins.

The analysis of the researchers shows that the two depressions has a funnel shape and grows narrower with increasing depth. Levy added that "That surprised us and led to a lot of thinking about whether it meant there was melting concentrated in the center that removed the ice and allowed stuff to pour in from the sides," according to The Sun.

The researchers concluded that both of the depressions most likely created in different ways. They have found that the debris that surrounds the Galaxias Fossae depression is showing signs coming from an impact. On the other hand, the Hellas depression gave signs of volcanic origins.

The researchers suggested that when looking for habitable areas on Mars the depression must be considered, particularly the Hellas formation.
