Huawei Mate 9 and Porsche Design Mate 9 were released into the open market with all the rumoured upgrades and advanced features. Huawei's newest flagship is a force to reckoned with in the smartphone industry with its improved battery life, software and camera.

Looking into the new smartphone, the Huawei Mate 9 and the Porsche Design Mate 9 inherited the same design with its predecessor, the Mate 8, along with some details from the Huawei P9. Utilizing a wide 5.9-inch display, the Huawei Mate 9 is using all the screen with full HD display with a screen-to-body ratio of 77 percent. On the other hand, the premium Porsche Design Mate 9 sports a Quad HD resolution display with 73 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Taking moves to keep up with current design trends the Porsche Design Mate 9  is now the first Chinese manufactured smartphone to don the dual-edge curve display like those of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Both smartphones are also backed by Huawei's most powerful processor the HiSilicon Kirin 960 processor.

In terms of storage, the Huawei Mate 9 features 4GB of RAM, along with 64GB storage that can be expanded to up to 256GB. Meanwhile, the Porsche Design Mate 9 is true to its name with 6GB of RAM and 256GB non-expandable storage. To make matters more interesting, the Huawei Mate 9 series is powered by the latest Android 7.0 Nougat from the get go. This makes the Huawei flagship the second smartphone behind the LG V20 to get Google's newest operating system apart from the Nexus and Pixel phones.

Huawei Mate 9 and Porsche Design Mate 9 are also packed with the current camera design trend, featuring a Leica branded dual-rear camera setup. This setup is almost the same as the P9's camera gear but with better camera sensors.

Both smartphones will be getting its juice from a non-removable 4000mAh battery that supports fast charging capabilities. The new Huawei flagship costs $775 for the Huawei Mate 9 and $1,550 for the Porsche Design Mate 9.
