Women who live in a countryside or in a home surrounded by greenery would likely live longer, according to a study. This is because nature could free you from daily stressors of life and improve your mental health.

The study was printed in Environmental Health Perspectives. It was led by researchers from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the Brigham and Women's Hospital. The study involved 108,630 American women from 2000 to 2008. The researchers used the satellite imagery and data from the Nurses' Health Study to compare their risk of mortality with the amount of exposure to nature around their houses. The results showed that women who live surrounded by greenery have a 12 percent lower mortality risk than those live in areas with little vegetation, according to Yahoo.

The team also discovered that women who have much exposure to greenery have a 34 percent lower chance of dying from respiratory diseases and 13 percent lower rate of dying from cancers, unlike those women who live surrounded by nature. The reason behind this key to longer life is that people who live surrounded by nature usually don't experience much air and noise pollution. They would not also experience extreme heat as those living in urban surroundings. The researchers also said that there are opportunities for more outdoor exercises and social interaction if you live in greenery environments. This could lead to lowering your levels of depression and improved mental health, according to Bustle.

Peter James, one of the researchers from Harvard Chan School Department of Epidemiology said that they were surprised to observe such strong links between increased exposure to greenness and lower mortality rates. He further said that they were even more surprised to find evidence that a big proportion of the benefit from high levels of vegetation seems to be connected with improved mental health.

So, what are you waiting, girls? Plant more vegetation in your surroundings and enjoy the benefits of living a longer life. Serenity in nature would really make a difference in you.
