Massachusetts Beaches Close After Spotting 6 Great White Sharks

Researchers from Center for Coastal Studies filmed a video of as many as six great white sharks feeding off an 11-foot minke whale carcass on Wednesday. This led to the closing of three beaches on Cape Cod Bay in Massachusetts.

The beaches that were closed for swimming on Friday were the Beach Point, Noons Landing and Cold Storage. On the other hand, by Saturday, the beaches had been reopened, according to USA Today. Researchers spotted the whale carcass on in Cape Cod on Wednesday. They went back the next day and they found some parts of the body of the whale such as spinal column and skull. There was also great white sharks seen munching on the carcass. The beaches were closed because of the sharks feeding in the area, according to Palm Beach Post.

Meanwhile, just a few weeks ago, a 6-year-old boy from Houston caught about a 10 to 12-foot great white shark while fishing with his grandfather's boat off the coast of Cape Cod. The boy thought it was a big tuna and he handed the rod to his dad because it was heavy. They were surprised it was a great white shark. It was caught for 90 minutes and they took the photo of it. Then, they let it go, according to Click 2 Houston. Lars White, Blake's father said that he calmly told the kids to sit in the middle of the boat, down low, and they took a few photos and as soon as they could get it in close enough they put down the line and sent him on his way.
