Friends of slain Texas woman said that they learned about their friends death after photos of her lifeless body started appearing on their Facebook newsfeed.

Authorities say that the photos of Jennifer Streit-Spears were posted by her boyfriend, Kenneth Alan Amyx, who has been arrested and charged with murder. Friends of the victim were shocked to see photos of their friend which appeared to show her throat slashed, and a selfie of Amyx with her lifeless body with a caption reading, "Please pray for us," posted for almost 36 hours before it was removed by Facebook.

According to CBS News, police arrested Amyx on Sunday after they responded to a call about a disturbance at an apartment. When they arrived, they had to force their way in and found the victim who was stabbed to death, while the suspect was alive and had what may have been self-inflicted knife wounds.

Streit- Spears' sister, who called 911, saw the gruesome photos online but said that she couldn't do a thing to get Facebook to remove it no matter how horrified she was. "I did ask them to remove it several times," the sister, who asked to remain anonymous, told the Daily Dot. "They told me I could block Jennifer if I didn't like what she posted and gave me other similar options." The pictures have now been taken out of the victim's Facebook account which was changed to an "in remembrance" page.

A Facebook spokesperson told the Daily News that Facebook has always been a place where people can share their experience and raise awareness about important issues. "Sometimes, those experiences and issues involve violence and graphic images of public interest or concern," the spokesperson continued. The site immediately removed the pictures as soon as they found out that the killer was the one who posted them.

During the arrest, Plano police found out that Amyx was wanted for a number of sex crimes, one in Rockwall County for continued sexual abuse of a child, and another in Dallas County for indecent exposure to a child. The suspect was brought to a hospital to have his stab wounds check before locking him up at the Collin County jail.

His bail was set on $600,000 and is charged with murder, as well as with the two sex crimes.

"I didn't see them every day. I don't want to say often, but I mean I never heard anything. Anytime you saw people coming out of there, they looked normal, didn't look angry, didn't look like murderers or anything," neighbor Taylor Dunafan told CBSDFW.
