The creative and artistic winners of the Sony World Photography Awards 2016 have been announced. The winning photos will be unveiled at the 2016 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House in London from April 2 to May 8, 2016.

The photos will be issued in the annual Sony World Photography Awards book. The Honorary Judging Committee has chosen Kei Nomiyama from Japan as the Open Photographer of the Year and Asghar Khamseh, Iranian photojournalist, as the recipient of the most coveted prize, the L'Iris d'Or Professional Photographer of the Year, according to Discovery News .

The Sony World Photography Awards aims to give honor and reward the best contemporary photography all around the world. It offers $30,000 in cash prizes and will receive the latest Sony digital imaging equipment. The annual award is an opportunity for the photographers to expose their creativity and would make known worldwide by industry leaders.

According to World Photo, the Sony World Photography Awards has five competitions. These include the Professional with 14 categories, Open with 10 categories, Youth with 3 categories, Student Focus for those studying photography and the National Award in which the best image is chosen among the 50 countries.
