The new Android 7.1 Nougat OS, as of now, has been available only in the Google Pixel and Pixel XL. But, rumors are spreading that Nexus devices will also be receiving the new firmware update. In the starting weeks of October, Google announced that the developer version of their latest Android version will be revealed by the end of October.

"Later this month we'll be bringing you the Android 7.1 platform as an open Developer Preview, similar to what we did for Android 7.0. You'll be able to test and build on the new platform and try the latest features," stated Dave Burke, Vice President for engineering working at Google.

Google has committed to its announcement as per reports and it seems that Android 7.1 Nougat is likely to be released in various old and new Nexus smartphones. The most prominent among these devices are the Pixel C tablet, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6P. Moreover, the ones who are registered for the Android Beta program can also use the latest Android 7.1 Nougat.

As per reports by NeuroGadget, Nexus devices such as Pixel C, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player, Android One, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P and Nexus 9 are all likely to get an update to Android 7.1 OS. This Nougat software version will be available by December 2016.
