PlayStation Plus Free Games For September: Most Anticipated Game Title May Not Make The Cut?

The much anticipated line up of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers for the month of September has yet to be revealed. Some are expecting some good additions to next month's roster after the disappointing list of games that made it to the August 2016 list.

"Watch Dogs," "LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham" and "Killzone Shadow Fall" are some of the games that subscribers think could make the cut on the roster for September. Rumor has it that there will be at least one AAA title will make the list in the PlayStation Plus free games for the month.

According to Parent Herald, there is a great chance that "Watch Dogs" make the list of Sony decides not to include "Killzone Shadow Fall" on its free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The report also said that Chattsportnet pointed out that this may be a good strategy for the developers of the game since it has already been confirmed that "Watch Dogs 2" is set to be released on November 15, 2015.

Also, ecumenicalnews.com reported that the PlayStation Universe clarified that rumor about the request of game developer OPQM. According to the report, "DOGOS" is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 4 on Sept. 6. However, it does not follow that it will be free for PS Plus subscribers. The game developer's content manager Federico Andrade reached out to the publication to confirm that there is absolutely no truth to the prediction, stressing that the spread of such rumors can affect the sales of the game.

"This article can have a very negative effect on potential PS buyers as they may think that it doesn't make sense to purchase the game if it will be available for free shortly after its release," Andrade wrote. This should be an important lesson for media outlets not to include games that are yet to be released when predicting the list of free games.

Meanwhile, Sony has announced that starting Sept. 22, PlayStation Plus membership will cost more. The change will affect subscribers in the United States and Canada. Membership fees in the U.S. will increase to $59.99 (from $49.99) for 12 months and $24.99 (from $16.99) for three months. In Canada, annual membership will increase to $69.99 CAD and $29.99 CAD for a three-month subscription. Also, monthly plans in the U.S. will remain at $9.99, but will change to $11.99 CAD a month in Canada, reported Christian Times.

Sony stated that the new subscription fees will take effect if the member's current membership plans renew on or after Sept. 22.
