A Flipino man was stunned to discover something he forgot under his bed - a 34-kilogram giant pearl that turned out to be one of the largest in the world! But he was unaware of the value this "good charm" of his beholds.

It was Puerto Princesa City Tourism Officer, Aileen Cynthia Amurao who put the giant pearl on a scale and saw that it is weighing 34 kilograms (75 lbs)! She also interviewed the owner of the enormous pearl on how he got hold and long forgotten such a wonderful treasure.

Initially, the pearl was discovered inside a giant clam and remained as the family's good luck charm. A family member was fishing when he cast down his anchor and got stuck during a storm. The story reported in IB Times says that "He noticed that it was lodged on a shell and swam down to pull up the anchor, and also brought the shell with him. This was a decade ago and he kept it at home."

"He'd almost forgotten everything about the pearl until he was moving out, and he remembered he had something under his bed," Amurao said. Amurao even posted to Facebook on August 20 calling out expert gemologists to verify the authenticity and actual value of the pearl which may be another record breaker as the "World's Biggest Natural Giant Pearl from a Giant Clam". They held a public viewing last Monday (August 22) at 8-9 am at the Atrium of New Green City Hall, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Philippines. Furthermore, she is proud to say that all record natural giant pearl came from the waters of Palawan.

"We are not actually (confirming) the pearl is really rare until such a time as it is subjected to a thorough examination," she commented. As for the record, the Pearl of Lao Tzu remains the largest known pearl in the world for weighing 6.4 kilograms (14 lbs) and 24 centimeters in diameter to be exact. And surprisingly, it was also found off the west coast of Palawan sea in the Philippines.

Amurao pre-measured the pearl's size which even amazed them more since it reached a whopping 67 centimeters length and 30 centimeters width. The owner and officials in Palawan have decided to make the pearl as one of the tourists' attractions displayed in the city hall.

But if you plan to go on a diving experience in Palawan to find another giant pearl of your own, then better start finding it since Amurao will not disclose any information further since they highly discourage anyone from removing pearls and clams from the sea because it negatively affects the biodiversity of Palawan.

"We are not divulging the exact area where the pearl was found... we will not release any more information, even about the original owner," she firmly said in an interview, reports CNN.
