Tesla Model S: Floats On Water, Acts Like A Boat!

The Tesla Model S sedan has the capability to float on water and perform like a boat for some short bursts of time. The announcement was made by Tesla founder Elon Musk on Sunday via Twitter.

However, Tesla Motors does not advise a trial for the said feature. Nevertheless, due to the absence of the similar air-intake needs of the Tesla Model S, among other features, that is needed to run a gas-dependent vehicle, it has the ability to float around the water without having any trouble. On the question whether the motor electrics have been waterproofed, Musk said that the battery and drive units are sealed.

The announcement regarding Tesla Model S came following a story that was posted by Electrek concerning a man who uploaded a video that shows his Model S vehicle 'swimming". In the video, the Tesla car was shown as it passed stranded and gas-powered cars in the flooded tunnel of Kazakhstan and came out unscathed, according to Tesla Motors.

Meanwhile, it was in 2013 when Tesla Motors spent $866,000 for the James Bond submarine-type car that has been featured in the film "The Spy Who Loved Me," along with a plan to make it into an undersea vehicle. On Sunday, Musk addressed the issue on the reported purchase by tweeting that he is still planning to make a sports sub vehicle that can also drive on roads.

But the Tesla founder also clarified that it is only a side project that has a limited market potential.

Right now, Tesla Motors are looking into meeting  demands for the company's more affordable Tesla Model 3. According to reports,  the car manufacturer has begun accepting orders early this year for the $35,000-priced vehicle with 215 miles of range, which has rapidly surpassed even their own expectations. However, it has been confirmed that it will not arrive until 2017 because the car model could not proceed into production until the Nevada Gigafactory of Tesla is already running.
