Samsung Galaxy S8 Rumors: Next Flagship May Sport A 5.5-Inch UHD Display

Samsung is currently busy prepping for the release of its Samsung Galaxy Note 6 (or 7?) phablet but that hasn’t stopped many from speculating what the Korean company has in store next year.

This early, there are plenty of smartphone buffs curious on how Samsung may top its Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. From the looks of it, the anticipation starts with the kind of screen display the Samsung Galaxy S8 will bring.

UBI Research breaks the ice a bit on what the Samsung Galaxy S8 will have to offer even if it is still a long way off. And according to the analysts from the research firm, they believe that once the next Samsung flagship launches, it may possibly sport a 5.5-inch UHD screen.

What has led them to speculate such? Blame Sony with its Xperia Z5 Premium. Apparently that device from Sony has opened up a whirlwind of possibilities that could spark a whole higher resolution display outbreak next year by leading mobile phone brands.

The current Samsung Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch display and upgrading it to a 5.5-inch size is possible. Also, the jump places the speculated Samsung Galaxy S8 near the borders of the Samsung Galaxy Notes unless the Korean company decides to up the screens on their next phablet.

Should that be the case Samsung could come out with an interesting new flagship with the Galaxy S8, a new benchmark with most mobile phones adapting bigger screens.

Samsung had previously unveiled a 5.5-inch 4K display panel and it seems that UBI Research has used that as their basis on rendering assumptions with the Galaxy S8.

Assuming those calls do fall into place, virtual reality comes to mind. Samsung does have that Samsung Gear VR under its wing so adding the two elements opens a whole new world of possibilities as far as gaming and media entertainment enjoyment is concerned.

Right now, all of these are mere speculations but Samsung has been known to pull surprises. Additionally, the company will need to find as much leverage as possible to keep its lead over its rivals like Apple and LG to name a few.
