Sixteen-year-old Wesley Chapel died on New Years Eve of the extremely rare skin disease known as Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis, TENS. The health issue results in blistering of the skin, causing the epidermis to form into several layers. Those suffering from the problem must be treated like a burn patient.

Chapel's parent's, Paul and Jamie, are still unsure how their son contracted the deadly skin condition. While doctors told them it is a reaction typically to antibiotics, Sean had never received any.

What started as flu-like symptoms progressed into rash and blisters, rupturing onto his face, eyes, ears and mouth.

His family briefly left his side for a Christmas event as he was doing better on Dec. 24. Yet the very next day, his health had deteriorated significantly. He had a fever of 106 degrees later, and his brain had stopped functioning. New Year's Eve, he died.

His friends and family have created a Go Fund Me account for Sean's family, to pay for services and medical expenses viewing for Sean will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and the funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday at First Assembly of God 36322 SR 54 Zephyrhills.
