Should men actually sit down to pass urine?

Scientists from Brigham young University's Splash Lab seem to think so. According to Euro News, they've created a simulated toilet scene by filming a jet of liquid that hits a body of water.

Professors Tadd Truscott and Randy Hurd led the work that they claim, according to the Daily Star, was a "response to harsh and repeated criticisms from our mothers and several failed relationships with women."

The researchers said they were disgusted with the amount of urine they found lying around next to urinals.

"This stream of water is a simulated urine stream entering a body of water similar to a toilet," the study notes, via the news organization. "The amount of splash is considerable and should make one reconsider standing up to urinate."

Some skeptical scientists can't believe that these "wiz kids" would actually go to all the trouble to use hi-tech cameras to film jets of water released from types of synthetic urethra.

"People ask me, are you serious? I tell them yes, this may involve 12-year-old humour, but it's also a real problem," Truscott said, via BBC News. "We've all been in disgusting toilets with puddles on the floor - these places are a breeding ground for bacteria."
