When it comes to waking up, some of us just aren't so concerned about a morning romp. (Unless you're a man...) In any case, a recent study shows that the majority of early risers would rather have a good old cup of coffee than a roll in the hay.

According to a recent poll conducted by Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts, researchers found that 53 percent of their guests felt more like coffee than sex was the best way to start their day. In fact, the survey revealed that an overwhelming 78 percent of respondents would rather abstain from alcohol, social media or sex with their partner for a year than kick their caffeine habit.

The poll also looked at participants in areas of China, India, the United Arab Emirates and the United States earlier in the year to reveal that 51 percent of people can abstain from sex longer than without their caffeine.

In fact, researchers found that 28 percent of respondents felt less creative without coffee. Twenty-two percent even said it would be physically impossible to get out of bed without it and some even said they couldn't function without their coffee.

"Coffee continues to be an increasingly important part of the travel experience, and to develop high impact programming for our Le Meridien guests, it was important that we had an understanding of global coffee trends," spokesperson Brian Povinelli, Global Brand Leader of Le Meridien and Westin said in a press release. "The new Le Meridien Master Barista program, derived from key findings from our study, will further bring to life a quintessential European cafe and breakfast culture at Le Meridien hotels and resorts around the world."

The survey looked at 7.455 people and revealed that 73 percent of the respondents would give up both television and Internet in their hotel for a cup of coffee and 63 percent would even give up alcohol for coffee while on their hotel stay.

As for having sex, there's only one thing to say: People really like drinking coffee. Some people, anyway.
