At a time when almost anyone can call themselves an expert, it's getting increasingly harder to find good sources of solid business advice young entrepreneurs can bank on. So what's the best way to sift the real deals from the rest? Look at their performance, of course. Take Jordan Lintz as an example.

Jordan is a person who followed the popular track of dropping out of college to pursue his business ventures. He didn't dive into it headfirst without knowing what he wanted, and he would be the first to say that dropping out of college is okay for some people, so long as they know that's what they need to do to follow their dream.

As far as his needs go, they seemed to revolve around the time it takes to build a successful business from the ground up. Years later, Jordan is involved with three different businesses tied to HighKey Enterprises, and his system of using one success as a foundation for another venture seems to have worked wonders.

It's also what qualifies him as a person whose advice might be worth listening to. For anyone who needs some inspiration or insight into the kind of mindset a successful entrepreneur needs to have, here are Jordan's three pieces of advice.

1. Adopt a forward-thinking mindset that provides great positioning for future opportunities.

While being aware of the here and the now is important, the present moment is fleeting, and being able to spot hints of oncoming changes can go a long way in preparing oneself to adapt to them early on. Even better, keeping the eyes straight ahead into the future is the only way to look for openings that, with some entrepreneurial know-how and a willingness to take risks, might yield substantial benefits.

Jordan's first business revolved around drop-shipping, but his forward-thinking mindset had him envisioning himself as the brand expert that he is today. That type of thinking provided a great base for future development, thanks to a forward-thinking mindset.

2. A positive mindset is the best for optimal results.

Keeping in line with the forward-thinking mindset, and then conquering future goals, is a worthwhile practice, especially when the negativity starts creeping in, which will, invariably, happen. Even someone who cultivates a high-energy, enthused aura, as Jordan Lintz does, has had to face some hardships to learn about the importance of a positive mindset.

When he found himself holding too much inventory that wasn't moving as expected and having to foot the six-figure bill for it, it was too easy for Jordan to drift away into a sea of negativity. However, his positive mindset kicked in and helped him learn important lessons that kept him from making the same mistake again.

3. Pursue the work that's worth doing for free.

Nothing in life comes without a price tag. When it comes to staying motivated, and plowing through all the hardship and the costs they bring in-be it money or other resources-then having solid faith in the work that's being done is often the only thing that will keep entrepreneurs going. It will also be the thing that's keeping the business afloat, too.

Money is fine. The role of a business is to make money. But to get to the point where it's profitable, a business can move through a series of ups and downs with the only glue keeping it together being the passion of the founder. It took more than two years for Jordan and his brother-partner to pay themselves their first paycheck; they had previously pumped it all back into the business to help it grow. Having the right mindset can help one persevere.
