T-Mobile has introduced a new technology called 'Digits' which lets consumers use a single phone number across all connected devices. The system was launched yesterday in a highly proclaimed announcement.

Technology is being modified continuously in order to become more useful and easy to use. There are constant updates everywhere which are customer friendly. T-Mobile has made a similar announcement for a technology that lets customers use one number in different connected gadgets. 'Digits' is the competition to the recently announced NumberSync technology by AT&T. The system was launched on December 7 in a beta testing mode. This launch is limited and customers need to opt in for it. Based on these responses, the system will be available to everyone in 2017.

"You can make and take calls and texts on whatever device is most convenient," AT&T said in its press release. "Just log in and, bam, your call history, messages and even voicemail are all there. And it's always your same number, so when you call or text from another device, it shows up as you."

T-Mobile is going to charge an extra monthly fee to avail the services. However, it has not clarified or announced the fees. The system is going to be extremely user-friendly, as suggested by company.

Features

Being able to use one number across many devices is the selling point of 'Digits'. But that is not all! You could ALSO use multiple numbers on the same device. This is easy for working professionals who can now swap between personal and official numbers without them having to unnecessarily maintain different accounts.

Another great feature is that you can generate an extra set of 'Digits' when you don't want to give your main number to anyone particularly. The temporary number is capable of forwarding your calls to your device aptly. "Businesses can give their employees Digits to use on their personal smartphones - even if those phones are on AT&T, Verizon and Sprint," T-Mobile says.

It is competing with the features of the likes of Google Voice, Apple's Continuity and AT&T NumberSync. T-Mobile also contended that they will have virtually no competition as they hold seven different patents on this technology. They are assured of their innovation and offers. But there is a big drawback currently. Digits is not currently compatible with iMessage. There are quite a few Apple users around and T-Mobile's insistence that users turn off iMessage is going to make them lose customers.
