Sonos and Spotify are releasing an update that will allow users to use Spotify to play Sonos speakers. Earlier, the users had to use the Sonos app to control the speakers. The new Sonos, Spotify feature was announced in August and was launched as a beta version in November. The beta version was available to only certain users and now with the new announcement, the update will be available to all users.

Sonos users use to face problems in setting up the sound system. It could be controlled through a dedicated Sonos app. For users availing the streaming services that were not supported by the app, the entire experience was becoming unpleasant, as reported by AndroidHeadline.

Spotify connect will solve this problem, at least for the users with premium services enabled. Spotify connect within the Spotify app will give users access to Sonos sound system and several other features that were available with Sonos app. With the new Sonos, Spotify update, users will be able to access all connected Sonos gear. This will help users switch from speakers to headphones and vice versa. Users will also have the function to control and group speakers in different rooms, a feature that was loved by many in the Sonos app.

The Sonos speakers and the Spotify app will have to be connected to the same WiFi to be able to control Sonos speaker via Spotify app. One of the new amazing features is the grouping of nodes in the sound system, this will enable users to play different songs in different speakers, as reported by The Verge.

The Sonos, Spotify integration is available on both desktop and mobile applications. This will allow users to have a cross-device control. Users can just tap a song to play a song from another album or playlist similar to what one does in a car or on a computer.
