Although Microsoft's 2-in-1 Surface Pro devices have been on the market for quite a while, the iPad Pro came out quite recently in 2015. While iPad Pro featured a jaw-dropping 12.9" display, Surface Pro Tab with its high-end hardware was very much appreciated globally. Both the tech giants now are set to unveil their next models, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and the iPad Pro 2, early in 2017.

With the onset of 2017, a wave of new tablets will hit the tech market shore but the most awaited among them are the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and the iPad Pro 2. Tablet Fans have been waiting eagerly for the devices to be rolled out and hence a comparison becomes a must. Here's everything you should know about the best upcoming tablets 2017 so far:

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Vs iPad Pro 2: Display Comparison

The current Surface Pro 4 features a 12.3" LCD screen with a 2,736 x 1,824 resolution and 267 PPI, which is slightly better than Apple's iPad Pro. Now, if the recent rumors are to be believed the upcoming Surface Pro 5 may spec a 4K Ultra HD display. Multiple reports suggest that the device might feature a 3,840 x 2,160 or 3,840 x 2,560 Screen. However, as the devices currently feature a 3:2 ratio, the upcoming device may have the latter resolution.

The Apple iPad Pro 2, on the other hand, is expected to have a 12.9" display, which is slightly larger than the current Surface Pro model. The iPad Pro 2 will also come with another 9.7" variant. On an overlook, Microsoft's next tablet may again beat iPad Pro in terms of Screen resolution and graphics quality.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Vs iPad Pro 2: Specs Comparison

While no official announcement has been made regarding the iPad Pro 2 features, based on the recent reports we can speculate what the upcoming tablet will be like. The 2017 iPad may feature a 12 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera, as compared to the current 8 MP and 1.2 MP cameras respectively. The Tab should also provide support for 4K video recording. The Tablet will be powered by the A10X processor and will run the iOS 10 Operating System.

Both 32 GB and 256 GB versions should be available for purchase. Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will possibly feature the latest Intel Kaby lake Processors. It is also expected that Microsoft will also add the USB-C port to the upcoming Surface Pro model. The current stylus will be continued in the 2017 device as well. It will also feature a kickstand, a keyboard base and will run the Windows 10 OS.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Vs iPad Pro 2: Battery Comparison

The iPad Pro 2 is expected to have 10 hours plus battery life. Based on the current model's performance the upcoming Tablet should work in a better way. It's worth noticing that the iPad Pro automatically adjusts the refresh rate depending on the on-screen movement. It is probably the only iOS 10 running device that has such feature and saves power by making such adjustments.

According to recent reports, Microsoft has not made any major changes in the Surface Pro 5's architecture. It is expected that the upcoming 2-in-1 device will have a similar battery performance as that of the current model. But, as the upcoming model features a 4K screen, it may reduce the battery lifespan much further. Based on the current model, which lasts only 4-5 hours while video streaming, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 may be well behind iPad Pro 2 in terms of battery time.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Vs iPad Pro 2: Price Comparison

The iPad Pro 2 will be available in both 32 GB as well as 256 GB variants. While the 32 GB version will come at a $800 price, the 256 GB version will be available for purchase for $1,100. The Surface Pro 5, on the other hand, should come for a little more than $900.

No official announcements have yet been made regarding the upcoming devices so far. However, it's expected that the both the iPad Pro 2 as well as Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be revealed in the second quarter of 2017. Stay tuned for more updates and news on the best upcoming tablets 2017.
