Netflix users had always wanted an option to download movies from the app for offline viewing. Now, finally after all these months of rumors, Netflix Offline Mode has been rolled out for the smartphone apps. Many movies, as well as your favorite TV series including "Orange is the new black", "Narcos" and "The Crown" are currently being offered for free download.

The online streaming company has announced that it's iOS as well as Android apps will have offline viewing support for the members throughout the globe. Although only a limited amount of content is available for download at present, the streaming service is expected to make more content available soon. Here's what we know about Netflix Offline Mode so far:

Netflix Offline Mode: Downloading The Offline Content

To enable offline mode on your smartphone app you have to update the Netflix App to the latest version. If you haven't done that yet, now is the best time. Unless you have a mobile data, make sure you're using a WiFi Network Connection. The content that is available for download can be found under the "Available for Download" category in the App.

If a movie or a series is available for offline viewing, the download option will be available just alongside it. According to Netflix's official help page, the user can download the content in standard or high definition quality, which is quite useful for devices having low storage capacity. Unfortunately, the feature is not yet available for Desktop yet, but the company might just bring it anytime in the near future.

Just as you click on the download option, the offline content will start to download on your smartphone. The download progress is shown by a blue notification at the lower bottom part of the screen. Netflix Offline mode also has an option to add more shows or movies to the download queue.

Netflix Offline Mode: Managing The Netflix downloads

Managing the offline content is as simple as downloading it. All you have to do is tap on the "My Downloads" section of the Netflix App. The section shows the list of all the movies and episodes you've downloaded and you can watch them simply by tapping on the titles.

Netflix Offline Mode also shows the storage information right below the title. The User can see how much space each episode or movie is taking up. Although movies are by default organized alphabetically, to see the downloaded episodes the user needs to tap on the expand button.

To delete the content available for offline viewing on the Netflix Offline Mode, you have to choose the Edit option in the top right corner. A list of movies and episodes will appear and you to select the content you want to delete. Then all you need to do is tap on the Trash icon to delete the content from your Smartphone.
