Do not miss out to watch the biggest astronomical event of 2016, which is going to take place in November when the Moon will come closer to the Earth. The last time this event took place was in 1948. Supermoon has an elliptical orbit, which means on one side, the perigee is closer to the Earth than the other side.
According to Nature World News, NASA said, "The next super moon of this magnitude will happen after 18 years on November 25, 2034. On November 14, 2016, the moon will appear up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent average than normal moon."
You should definitely go outside and witness this amazing astronomical event. As per a report published in Business Insider, Facebook has been flagging unique places to watch the supermoon and one among them is the Sydney Beach. There are certain places from where you can witness the glory of the Moon.
Supermoons are not all that uncommon. If you stare at the moon without any landmarks or buildings nearby, it won't look much different from a normal Moon. But, if you witness the Moon when it is close to the horizon or rising behind from buildings, there are high chances of watching the 'moon illusion.'
Now, take a look at the best places from where you can get an easy glimpse of the supermoon.
- East Facing Beach -- If you want to witness the supermoon without any barrier, the best place is to head an east facing beach. You can watch the Moon as it progress out of the sky.
- Within City -- It is not necessary that you should travel long distance to witness the supermoon. You watch this historic event within the city over those skyscrapers and the moon will appear to be huge.
- Mountain regions -- Head toward a mountain region or near the mountains to get a stunning glimpse.
- Iconic structures -- The best view is to witness the supermoon emerging from behind a famous building, statue or bridge.
- Dark place -- No matter where you go, make sure that the place does not have much exposure to light. Avoid capturing photos with the bright light of your phone.
In the U.S. and Europe, the supermoon is expected to appear on the morning of November 14 at 8:52 a.m. EST. For people in Australia, they can witness the moon on November 15 at 12:52 a.m. AEST.
