According to some new leaks, Google is about to release two of its own smartwatches in Q1 2017. Codenamed Angelfish and Swordfish, the two smartwatches will compete with their rival Apple Watch, and will possibly bring it down. The upcoming smartwatches are expected to feature Android Wear 2.0 update and support LTE/GPS connectivity.

Recently, Google launched the Pixel and Pixel XL phones, the first smartphones that the search giant manufactured all by itself. Now, with the launch of the new Google Android Wear Smartwatch in Q1 2017, Google is set to take over the tech market all over again.

Expected Features:

Evan Blass @evleaks tweeted earlier informing the release date for the Google's smartwatches to be set for Q1 2017. The two watches have already been confirmed to feature the Android Wear 2.0 update. Google has also tried to bring its Google Assistant in the new watches, which currently is available only in Google Home and Pixel phones .

Google has earlier made smartwatches called Android Wear, but they were made by other companies like LG and Sony. Now, as Google has started to manufacture its own smartphones, it's expected the tech giant would do the same with its new watches.

Some pictures and details of these upcoming watches have been shared online. The Angelfish has been reported to feature both GPS and LTE connectivity, a 43.5mm titanium-coloured shell and will have three buttons on the board. While Android Wear only had a one-button control until now, the Angelfish watch could use the additional buttons for its new Google Assistant features.

Swordfish, however, is like a more regular Android Wear and is not expected to offer GPS or cellular connectivity. It features a 42mm diameter, 10.6mm thickness and just a single crown button on the board.

Android Wear hasn't been much appreciated much in the past months. The first major update to the Android Wear 2.0 has been announced earlier in May. Now the update has been pushed back to 2017, and it's very unlikely that companies would release any new devices this year.
