Most Pokémon GO updates were not clearly explained by the games itself, and this new update is no exception. There were no instructions that came along with the update, so here's everything you need to know and do to start earning candy with your Pokémon buddy.

The recent Pokémon GO update, Buddy System, basically allows game trainers to choose one Pokémon to walk around with. The update was announced over the weekend but only a few players were able to access it until later in the afternoon when the update was in full swing. The Buddy System feature gives trainers a chance to earn candy specific for their chosen Pokémon by taking these little creatures for walks, reported vg247.com.

According to IGN, trainers will only be able to select one Pokémon at a time to become their buddy, but it's also possible to swap a Pokémon buddy anytime. Trainers will also have a chance to earn more candies for their Pokémon buddy by walking a certain distance. For those players who chose Pikachu to be their buddy, they will have a chance to find a new Pokémon GO Easter egg.

Pikachu initially appears on the ground next to the player that chose it, but after walking 10km, the little pocket monster will be able to hop on the player's avatar's shoulder in the trainer details screen. Also, note that players are advised to not pick their Pokémon Buddy based on their favorite Pokémon. A Pokémon Buddy should also be based at least on its use in the game.

Game Rant reported that since you will be able to receive Pokémon candy for the type of Pokémon Buddy you have chosen, you'll want to pick a Pokémon that needs a certain amount of candies so they can be evolved or powered up. This is especially great for rare Pokémon like Dratini, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle.

Meanwhile, Pokémon GO updates 0.37.0 for Android and 1.7.0 for iOS also fixed the bugs and added Pokémon GO Plus support. Game developer also explained that they are continuously working on eliminating "bots and scrapers" from the game, emphasizing that users with rooted or jailbroken devices are not supported by the app.
