Google Nexus 2016 Release Date, Specs, Price Update: Handset’s First Official Render Released Accidentally?

The internet is currently flooded with loads of rumors about the highly anticipated Google Nexus 2016 release date, specs and pricing information. In midst of all, a new report claims that Google has mistakenly leaked a picture of one of HTC Nexus 2016 flagships codenamed "Marlin" and "Sailfish".

According to BGR, the search engine giant has accidentally revealed one of its upcoming new Nexus phones ahead of release. Google recently posted a video promoting the Google Photos app for iOS and Android on its official Instagram account. The handset as seen in the video is shaped similar to an iPhone SE and has 2.5D curved glass on its face. There are high chances that the smartphone which shows an iOS pop-up on the screen is the first official render of a new 2016 Nexus phone.

In the last few weeks, both the HTC Nexus 2016 "Marlin" M1 and "Sailfish" S1 smartphone were spotted on GeekBench benchmarking site. As per the listing, the supposed HTC Nexus "Marlin" device will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution and run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, with a recorded clock speed of 1.59GHz. The leak claims that the handset will feature 4 GB of random access memory (RAM), 128GB internal storage, a 12-megapixel main camera enabled with LED flash and an 8-megapixel front facing camera. The HTC Nexus "Marlin" is also supposed to include USB Type-C port and a fingerprint reader. Two speaker grills are expected at the bottom of the device, reported Recombu.

As far as the HTC Nexus "Sailfish" is concerned, the smartphone is rumored to feature a 5-inch screen with a 1080p display resolution, Qualcomm's current-generation Snapdragon 820 chipset coupled with Adreno 530 graphics processing unit (GPU), 4GB RAM, 32 GB of built-in storage capacity, a 12-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front camera and a 2,770mAh battery. Both The Google Nexus 2016 smartphone are expected to come preinstalled with Google's latest mobile operating software Android "Nougat."
