Players who have been playing Pokémon GO for some time now know how important stardust is. Unlike candy which can help specific Pokémon level up, players can get a lot from stardust and it is an important ingredient in boosting Pokémon's CP and HP. So here are some helpful tricks on how to get Stardust to level up your Pokémon.

According to alphr.com, there are different ways to gather stardust since it's not available in shops. One of the most common ways to collect stardust is to catch a Pokémon. Every time players get a new Pokémon, they also get 3 standard Pokémon candy and 100 Stardust for catching the little monster. Fortunately, catching low level Pokémon like Pidgey, Rattata Zubat, and Drowzee are actually worth it. After some time, stardust points will accumulate.

Eurogamer.net also mentioned that hatching Pokémon eggs is also the next best way to collect more Stardust. Players will have a wide variety of Stardust rewards depending on the type of Egg they hatch. It was said that 10km Eggs give the most rewards of 2,000 Stardust when they're cracked open. While 2km and 5km Eggs give lesser number of Stardust. Hatching Eggs may give you a lot of Stardust, but it can be very time consuming compared to just catching Pokémon since you have to walk or trek a certain distance to be able to crack your Egg.

Defending a gym is a bit tricky to understand if you are just starting to play Pokémon GO because it would make you feel like it's not helping at all. However, these gyms are another important source of Stardust. Bustle.com reported that once you have reached a certain level (level 5) in Pokémon GO, you will be asked to select one of three teams to join.

After choosing, you will be able to fight at gyms. If you have at least one Pokémon left at a friendly gym, you will be awarded with daily Stardust. To claim this stardust, head to the shop, and click the shield icon in the top right-hand corner of your screen. As you'd expect, that number will increase if you have multiple Pokémon defending gyms for you. So keep catching 'em all, and you'll slowly get more of that Stardust in the bank.
