There's no doubt that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is among one of the highly anticipated devices of the year. While, a lot of rumors about the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, specs and price have been making rounds, there's some conflicting reports about the device's possible launch.

According to Christian Times, Microsoft might announce its flagship laptop sometime in October to compete with Apple's MacBook Pro 2016 which is also rumored to get released around the same time. But, if a new report coming from Vine Report is to be believed the hybrid mobile device release has been postponed to 2017. The reason behind the delay is expected to be Intel's latest Kaby Lake processing chip.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4, which was released in October last year, was plagued with a number of issues which made it quite unpopular among tech enthusiasts. The poor battery performance of the laptop-tablet hybrid and stylus issues were the main drawbacks. It is reported that this time the software giant wants to leave no stone unturned to gain back users' confidence. Rumor mills have it that the Redmond is delaying the release of the next gen laptop-tablet hybrid to make sure that the device ends up getting the best specs and features.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to pack Intel's latest Kaby Lake processing chip which is likely to get an early 2017 release. It is believed that use of Intel's latest Kaby Lake chip will double the efficiency of Microsoft next generation Surface Pro tablet. The current Surface Pro 4 lineup is powered by Intel's latest Skylake processors. Among other specs, the upcoming Surface Pro tablet is expected to come preloaded with Windows 10 Professional Redstone 2 operating system. The Windows 10 update is still under development and is rumored to get rolled out by spring next year with a host of brand-new features and enhancements.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is rumored to get launched in 2K and 4K display models. The device is expected to feature 16 GB of RAM, a 16MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, a USB 3.1 Type-C port and Thunderbolt 3. The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to cost $899 for the Core i5 variant, $999 for the Intel Core i7 variant, and $1,599 for the i7 Extreme variant.
