Google Nexus 2016 Release Date, Specs, Update: Handsets To Pack New Processor For Faster Performance?

Rumors mills have it that Google's highly anticipated Nexus 2016 smartphones could come with a lot of interesting specs and features. Now, new reports suggest the next-gen Google Nexus 2016 flagships internally named as S1 and M1 and codenamed "Marlin" and "Sailfish" will be powered by Qualcomm's newly introduced Snapdragon 821 processor.

The new Snapdragon 821 is set to offer better and faster performance speed as compared to the current Snapdragon 820 processor. Use of the newly announced Qualcomm processor is expected to enhance the performance as well as speed of the upcoming Google Nexus 2016 smartphones. Other possible candidates for the processor include the ASUS ZenFone 3, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 flagship phablet and the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 and Mi 5s, reported The Verge.

The Nexus 2016 smartphones are expected to get released alongside Google's new operating system Android Nougat in August. Rumor mills have it that Google will debut the new OS on its upcoming Nexus 2016 smartphones.

The HTC Nexus 2016 "Marlin" M1 smartphone was recently spotted on GeekBench benchmarking site. As per specs revealed in the benchmarking site, the supposed HTC Nexus "Marlin" device will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution and run on a quad-core Qualcomm SoC, which is most likely the latest Snapdragon 821. The leak claims that the handset will come with 4 GB of random access memory (RAM) and include up to 128GB internal storage.

The handset is rumored to come packed with a 12-megapixel main camera enabled with LED flash and an 8-megapixel front facing camera. The HTC Nexus "Marlin" is also supposed to include USB Type-C port and a fingerprint reader. Two speaker grills are expected at the bottom of the device.

The second Nexus smartphone HTC Sailfish phone is expected to feature a 5-inch FullHD display, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, a 12-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera and a 2,770mAh battery.

Other rumored specs include a rear panel fingerprint scanner, a USB Type-C port, bottom facing speakers, a top mounted headphone jack and Bluetooth 4.2. The device is expected to be a mid-range device.
