Science of Health & Happiness: Increase Awareness On How To Become Healthier And Happier

Lee Kum Kee family gave a gift of over $21 million to inaugurate the Lee Kum Sheung Center for Health and Happiness at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Happiness at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in the signing ceremony in Hong Kong on April 22, 2016. The center focuses in the field of health and happiness wherein it would provide efforts and awareness on how to make people become healthier and happier.

The center involves making new research and assembling about the role of happiness and other factors of attaining a healthy well-being. They would work mainly on the shortfalls or risk factors that lead to disease. They would also research on the treatments needed to cure certain diseases, according to Harvard Edu.

The faculty of the center would make discoveries that can enlighten medical care, personal behaviors, wide-ranging public policies not traditionally related to medicine and health care and health programs. They would also coordinate with the researchers, faculty, and students across Harvard.

Sammy Lee, the chairman and managing director of LKK Health products Group said that the new center is dedicated to the science of health and happiness, which is a timely tribute to his great grandfather, Lee Kum Sheung. Lee Kum Kee's core value is "Si Li Ji Ren," which means "considering others' interest." Sammy Lee said that with this core value they are proud to support scientific advancement for the good of people all around the world.

Lee Kum Kee family own the Lee Kum Kee International Holding Ltd, a based food company specializing in the production of oyster flavored sauce and other Asian and Chinese sauces. The center is named after Lee Kum Sheung, who founded the said oyster sauce company. He also invented the oyster sauce in 1888. The company produces more than 200 Chinese-style sauces.
