New York Comic Con took the city by storm as comic book lovers, cosplayers, gamers, and nerds from all walks of life gathered together for one of the largest events on the east coast this past weekend. And while the convention surpassed even San Diego Comic Con last year with 151,000 unique attendees, it's possible that this year's attendance number was even higher.

The con for all things geek included celebrities Robert Kirkman, the creator of The Walking Dead franchise, Natalie Dormer, who plays Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones, and David Duchovny of X-files in addition to other stars in the media.

While many attendees came for the stars, though, there were those who came for the costumes. Each year, cosplayers from all over the United States dress up in outfits that mimic superheroes, villains, and protagonists from shows and comics. This year, there was the regular crew of X-Men lookalikes along with those dressed like Doctor Who and several Attack on Titan characters.

But perhaps the best costumes were the ones worn by Jared Leto and Mark Ruffalo, who play the Joker and the Hulk. Leto dressed up as a type of baboon similar to Rafiki from The Lion King, while Ruffalo wore a Luigi mask while touring the con with his son.

In addition to costumes, merchandise and celebrities, the con also had panels and screenings of the newest and greatest in television, media and comics. Netflix released a sneak peak of Daredevil season 2 and the new episode of the X-filed was also shown.

All in all, the con remained one of the largest conglomerations of nerds and geeks this side of the east coast, showing off cool gadgets and the latest in shows.
