Eating healthy isn't always so easy. Oftentimes, foods can be so loaded with hidden fats, salt and sugar that it's easy to mistake what true ingredients are on the label (especially concerning processed foods.)

New findings published in the journal Psychology and Marketing reveal how thinking of a kitchen fruit bowl can be a helpful step in the right direction when it comes to eating healthier, especially when the option is made more attractive, convenient and normal in an everyday setting.

A new study conducted by Cornell researchers collected information on healthy eating behaviors, showing that most healthy eaters did so because of a restaurant, grocery store, school cafeteria or spouse who made foods like fruits and vegetables a readily available choice in their home.

"A healthy diet can be as easy as making the healthiest choice the most convenient, attractive, and normal," said Brian Wansink, Ph.D. author of Slim by Design and Director of the Cornell Food and Brand Lab, in a news release. "With these three principles, there are endless changes that can be made to lead people -- including ourselves -- to eat healthier."
