Women in China have latched on to strange fad- hairy stockings

Shocked on reading this? But it is true. Women in China have once again captured the world's attention with their bizarre trend of hairy stockings that promise young girls warmth and act as a potential turn-off for perverts.

Like the name goes, hairy stockings mimic an unshaven leg with thick dark hair. This gives a look of unappealing legs and wards off sexual predators.

This unique product of furry tights that promises to stave off unwanted male attention quickly became a viral sensation after it first appeared on China's popular micro blogging website Sina Weibo(China's version of Twitter).

Soon there were numerous comments on this image. One user @HappyZhangJiang on Sina Weibo called this bizarre stocking as 'anti-pervert stockings.' Another user commented, "This will not only prevent against perverts, it'll definitely also result in preventing handsome guys from approaching you," reports HNGN.

According to ChinaSMACK ,a Shanghai based blog: "Super sexy, summertime anti-pervert full-leg-of-hair stockings, essential for young girls going out."

According to Huffington Post, this product is reminiscent of a similar product that was launched in the year 2010 by J. Crew that forced the Gossip news site Gawker to question, "May be they could market it as a sexy Chewbacca accessory?"

Looks like 'Anti pervert' is a growing trend in Asia. Recently, engineering students in India designed an anti rape underwear that delivers a 3,800 kilovolt shock to the attacker and also has a GPS fitted that will alert the police and help them track the location in the event of an attack. It will also automatically send text alerts to both the police and family members.
