A mysterious and horrific find by two young boys at Quincy, Massachusetts, has left police and residents baffled. The young boys found a decomposed big foot.

Police officials are trying their best to determine whether the big foot unearthed from the woods of Lakeville is a foot, and if it is, then who the big foot belongs to.

According to the Patriot Ledger newspaper, "On March 29, Sgt. Steven Leanues picked up what appears to be a decomposed foot that the boys found in the woods off Pantheon Road. Police Chief Frank Alvilhiera sent it to the medical examiner, who determined it is not human, although it appears to have five toes."

Alvilhiera predicts it to be a bear paw and says it could belong to an animal despite its resemblance to a human foot. Prior to this, in several cases, animal bone fragments have been mistakenly considered as human remains.

The identity of the present find remains a mystery until strong evidence is yielded from medical examinations.

The 'big foot' will remain a mystery, as more time is required to declare the official results. Most often, parts of a bear are mistaken as human remains.

In the year 2004, a five-finger bone with a rubber band around the bones was found inside a manila envelope by a man in Fort Gay. It was considered to be the hand of a child or small woman until reports from the forensic lab clearly revealed that the five-finger bone was actually a bear paw. Apart from the five-finger bone, the rest of the skeleton was missing, which added to the mystery, reports Discovery News.
