Why do entrepreneurs build businesses? Many want to amass fortunes and have a legacy of making millions. Others, like the Italian marketing genius Mario Selva, want to have unlimited freedom to travel and do whatever they please, whenever they want.

Mario Selva is an Italian-born business owner and marketing expert. He started his first business in 2017 and it was immediately a massive success. Mario was never motivated solely by the money, although he made $180,000 in only four months. For him, it was always about freedom.

"I love to see the world. I want to travel as far as I can and as often, so this is what keeps me motivated," he shares, adding, "It's what gives me perspective and brings fresh inspiration to my business."

Freedom expresses itself in more than one way for Selva. He is able to help his family and mentor people, which is very important to the entrepreneur. Having freedom in business means not being dependent on others. Mario recalls his first-ever failure. "I was working with Amazon sellers and then one day, for no reason, they disabled my page. I lost that entire stream of income. It was so frustrating and it literally happened overnight," he recalls.

Ever since 2018, Selva has always chosen freedom. He started his own social media marketing business and then ventured into e-commerce. "I went all out on e-commerce. I wanted to pursue this new thing and it ended up paying off big time," he says.

Mario loves working in marketing. He finds it to be the perfect intersection of psychology, sales, and creativity. His first business capitalized on online sales as a matter of convenience. He made $180,000 in four months. His second venture was even more successful, earning him $1.5 million in just 18 months.

There's no end in sight for Selva because of his willingness to continue learning, growing, and expanding. Mario is fascinated by technology and social media. "Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Tik Tok keep changing their algorithms," he says. "I love cracking those and figuring out how it all works."

He is a man of many talents, having studied finance and public relations. This is the secret to successful owners: they branch out in many different directions. The one thing that remains steady is their work ethic and discipline.

Mario Selva has a rigorous level of discipline. "I think that 50% of the challenge is to stay motivated every day and keep going even when your business has problems because it inevitably will. All businesses have difficulties at one point or another. You can't stop that, but you can resolve quickly and efficiently," he explains.

Making sure to surround yourself with a good team helps, too. Mario currently employs two people who are both on the same wavelength as him so that they can grow, train, and learn together. "Make sure that your team supports your goals. These are the people that will help you stay on track no matter what happens," says Selva.
