Travelling has become an active passion for many youngsters and rightly so! The experience of immersing yourself in different cultures presents an opportunity for growth that other experiences can seldom offer.

In the spirit of that growth, we've written this little article mentioning four must-visit destinations that you should consider for your travels this year. While we're nowhere near to achieving the detail offered by Exploringthisrock, we'll still try our best.

So without further ado, let's go!

JAPAN

Japan is the perfect destination if you're looking for the perfect mix of ancient and modern. You'll find a technology hub surrounded by ancient arts such as Geisha and Sumo, and traditional tea ceremonies. The harmony between tradition and technological growth truly is a sight to behold.

Also, let's not forget the Olympics are this year in Tokyo!

ICELAND

With TV shows like "Vikings" destinations such as Norway and Sweden get the most attention. However, Iceland, which holds just as much importance in the Nordic world, goes unnoticed. The land of the midnight sun has become much more accessible in recent times and travelers should take advantage of this accessibility.

You'll be able to find budget flights to Iceland from most major international airports and, in doing so, you'll have enough to keep yourself busy. Extreme sports are a major pastime in Iceland, as is hiking so make sure you bring your thick winter jackets and boots. With so many picturesque settings, it's no surprise that outdoor activities are given preference.

If you're a nature lover, then you'll have enough with Landmannalaugar Mountain, the Svartifoss waterfall and the jaw-dropping Northern Lights.

BELGIUM

Belgium continuously misses its place in the top 5 travel destinations in Europe and nothing could be more unfair. From music festivals to antique fairs and thriving café culture, Belgium has a lot to offer to the cultured and uninitiated alike. You can lose yourself in the bustling markets and take a trip down history to see one of Europe's truly historical countries.

Besides the art and history, there's also the food. The waffles and beer notwithstanding, you should also try the fries while you walk through these historic streets. You'll also find a bustling nightlife and high-end restaurants, making this country a true cosmopolitan destination in Europe.

You'll have enough to do in Brussels, Bruges, and Antwerp to make your trip enjoyable and fruitful. Whether you're a history buff, foodie, cinephile, or just like seeing new places, Belgium will be an ideal destination regardless.

CROATIA

When one thinks of sunny weather and lush beaches, Croatia doesn't really come to mind. This is surprising as this little Eastern European gem boasts fantastic weather and some of the best beaches in the world.

Croatia gained significant attention after the popularity of "Game of Thrones", but it shouldn't be underestimated as a simple filming location. With historical sights and sunny beaches, Croatia is a destination where you can learn as well as relax.

If you're looking for ancient ruins, you can see some historical Roman sights in the cities of Split and Pula. Other than the historical sights, the natural beauty of the country will leave any nature lover satisfied.
